'what's going on in your head?'

Earlier today, a dude few seats across me asked me this question during a lunch gathering with the youth members from the church I attend here. Everyone in the table began to stare at me.

"It's like you're stuck on your head", he says in a cynical tone while pointing his fingers to his head. I see his face. I've seen these kind of faces before, the kind that wants to put you to shame or maybe I'm just paranoid. Well I'm sorry, I got way too enamored staring at this section of the table, I had to zone out. It also can't be helped that I suck listening to group conversations. I deadass once misheard somebody for que pasa?

I've talked about this before with a hearing impaired friend, we both agreed if life has subtitles in it, our lives would be 2x easier.

What happened next? Well, everyone brushed over it like it never happened.

*The conversation went in Indonesian

The actual conversation probably went like this:

'Ada apa sih di kepala lu' -> 'What's going on in your head'

'Lu kayak banyak pikiran' -> 'It's like you're stuck on your head'
