TRASH

Peering back to my distant memories, I recalled a lesson I once learned. It is only now that I realize its significance.

The lesson was taught by a lady who was my English tutor. A mother of one. I still remember her son's name. It begins with an F and ends with an L. Everything about her was amiable. She loved showing me pictures of her son, her family, and (of course) praising me. I was a role model for her son, she says, enough to make me feel proud. I could talk to her about anything so our lesson always goes off the track and I always liked it.

One day out of nowhere, perhaps a context existed but I cannot remember what, she said this to me: "You see that trash bin?". We both glare at the bin and I watch her hands gather at a singular point in her giant forehead. She continues, "all those negative words you hear? All those negative thoughts piled up in your head? Throw them away" and she'd direct all the imaginary negativity from her palm to the direction of the trash bin. "Now do it.", she tells me. I follow and re-enact her movements while chuckling and giggling.

I shall wish to keep doing it today.
