new year, new workflow
New year, new workflow. I can't be the only one writing on my phone. As much as I love my laptop, I'm not always with my laptop. Now that I have returned to Instagram, I've gone to doom scrolling again and I hate it (on a positive note, I have less anxiety using IG now!). I realized the time I spent on doom-scrolling could actually be spent on writing a blog post.
Now, blogging from the bearblog CMS is only great in the desktop browser. I know because I've tried it. It doesn't help that Safari Private browsing tab logs you out every time you leave the tab for few minutes. I decided I should find a convenient file management system that works for my laptop and phone. Somehow I knew I was going to use GitHub so I set up a private repository and downloaded GitHub on my phone. I made sure the line wrap mode is set to soft wrap mode.
There are two pros I've found by using GitHub (I'm not sure if all of these exists in Google Drive and Dropbox). The first is being able to create an .md
text file and edit the file from the app itself (instead of editing and reuploading). Secondly, having access to its revision history (in GitHub commit history). It's simple and quick although typing isn't the best experience but I'll take it any day. There's one thing I would love to have: accessing the file offline but I choose to think of it this way: the time I have internet connection can probably be wasted on creating a blog post rather than doom-scrolling. With this, I simply have less excuse for not creating a blog post.
